Richard P. Neely

ST. MARYS, OHIO - Richard P. Neely, 79, formerly of 506 Maplewood Drive in Celina, died at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at the Otterbein Retirement Community near Grand Lake St. Marys.

Neely was born on March 10, 1924, in Lima, to Ray and Martha (Lampert) Neely.

He married Miriam "Pat" Neely on April 29, 1943, and she survives at 11711 Kingfisher Lane (Otterbein), St. Marys.

He is also survived by a son Steven (Maureen) Neely of Celina; four grandsons, Michael, Mark, Eric and Brad Neely; and one great-grandson, Logan Neely.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ralph Neely.

Neely received a bachelor of science degree from Ohio Northern University.

He was a pharmacist and owned and operated Neely's Drug Store in downtown St. Marys for 34 years.

He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II.

Neely's memberships included the Wayne Street United Methodist Church, Rotary International, St. Marys Outing Club (Idlewild), the American Legion Post #323, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9289, all in St. Marys, the Northmoor Country Club in Mercer Co., Spanish Wells Country Club in Bonita Springs, Fla., the board of directors of Bank One of Ohio and past-president of the Northwest Ohio Pharmaceutical Association.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at the Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys with the Rev. Ed Groff officiating. Burial, with graveside military rites, will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation hours are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to either the Ohio Northern University School of Pharmacy or the Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
