Rose M. Pfeffenberger

ST. MARYS, OHIO - Rose M. Pfeffenberger, 88, of 840 Dorothy Lane, St. Marys, died at 2:57 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2003, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 31, 1915, in St. Marys to Joseph and Clara (Dieringer) Axe.

She married Louis Pfeffenberger on Nov. 15, 1937, and he survives at the residence.

Mrs. Pfeffenberger is survived by two sons, Michael (Sandra) Pfeffenberger of Troy, and Dennis (Sue) Pfeffenberger of St. Marys; one daughter, Karen (Michael) Showalter of Lima; one daughter-in-law, Judy Pfeffenberger of St. Marys; two brothers, Laurence "Michael" Axe of St. Marys, Thomas Richard Axe of Kansas City, Kan.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Phil Pfeffenberger; and six brothers, Francis, James, Vincent, Urban, Cletus and Damian Axe.

Mrs. Pfeffenberger was a 1933 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. She had worked at the former DWG Cigar factory and the G.C. Murphy Store, both of St. Marys.

She loved sports, playing cards, reading and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, and the Altar Rosary Sodality; the Catholic Ladies of Columbia; she was one of the original members of the Holy Rosary Label Committee, which raised funds for Holy Rosary School.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys. Father David Heinl will officiate. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Holy Rosary Church.
