ST. MARYS, OHIO - John L. Pruitt, 74, of 115 Guy St. in St. Marys, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Antras, Tenn., to Estel and Ida (Gibson) Pruitt, and they preceded him in death.
He married Dalphine G. Hurst on July 22, 1948, and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, Don (Connie) Pruitt of Collierville, Tenn.; a daughter Janice (Bill) Coffey of Union City, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Melissa (Jerry) Gammons of Union City, Tenn., Aaron (Gina) Pruitt of Celina, Ryan (Stephanie) Pruitt of Middlesex, N.C., Leah (Josh) Anderson of Wake Forest, N.C., Melissa May of Collierville, Tenn. and Shawn May of Horn Lake, Miss.; three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner Pruitt and Dorian May; and five brothers, Ralph (Shelby) Pruitt and Glenn (Etta) Pruitt, both of St. Marys, Arthur (Georgia) Pruitt, Joe (Jean) Pruitt and Clyde (Ruby) Pruitt, all of Dayton.
He was preceded in death by a son, James Pruitt; and three brothers, Enos Pruitt, Ray Pruitt and Virgil Pruitt.
Mr. Pruitt retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St. Marys and was well-known in the area for his radio and television repair service. He was a member of the Hillsdale Baptist Church in St. Marys and enjoyed singing, playing guitar and the organ.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Miller Funeral Home, located at 1605 Ohio 703 West in St. Marys. The Rev. Ron Spurgeon will officiate. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Memory Garden near Moulton.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
