KETTERING, OHIO - Paul Edwin Beckett, 74, of Kensington Manor in Middletown, passed away at 11:28 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003.
He was born Jan. 17, 1929, in Akron to Raymond and Dorothy Beckett, and both are deceased.
He married Dixie Lee Thompson in Greenville on May 29, 1955, and she survives at Kensington Manor.
He is also survived by three daughters, Deborah (Rick) Morrison and Sherri (Shawn) English, both of Middletown, and Linda O'Neill of Pendleton, Ind.; one son, Rob (Kim) Beckett of Middletown; nine grandchildren; three brothers, James (Geraldine) Beckett of St. Marys, Don (Jean) Beckett of Columbus, and Jack (Phyllis) Beckett of Kettering; and four sisters, Dorothy (Stan) Hirschfeld of Indianapolis, Ind., Helen Dershem of Worthington, Joan "Pat" (Ken) Briggs and Janet (Charles) Spencer, both from St. Marys.
One brother, Richard Earl Beckett, died from polio in 1949 and one son, Thomas, died in infancy.
Mr. Beckett graduated from Memorial High School in 1948. He was a member of the National Guard and served in the Korean War in 1953 and 1954. After returning from the war, he worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in St. Marys.
Mr. Beckett moved to the Dayton area and became a sales representative for R.G. Dun. He retired at age 70.
A memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Kensington Manor in Middletown. His body will be donated to science at Wright State University.
