ST. MARYS, OHIO - Judith L. Burd, 70, of St. Marys, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003, at Otterbein Retirement Community in St. Marys.
She was born April 27, 1933, in St. Marys, a daughter of Norval and Rosemary (Axe) Botkin. On Dec. 19, 1953, she married Arthur Burd, who survives at Otterbein.
She is survived by a son, John "Kip" (Pam Chilcoat) Burd of St. Marys, a daughter, Holly (Jeff) Platt of St. Marys, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a sister, Sarah (Oliver) Giere of Coldwater. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jerry Botkin.
She was a homemaker and had been hired in 1966 as the first "meter maid" for parking enforcement by the City of St. Marys. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys. She enjoyed playing bingo, tole painting and collecting milk glass and Dickens' Village items.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Rev. David A. Heinl as celebrant. Burial will follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys.
