HOLLAND, MICHIGAN - A. Alfred Schamp, 85, formerly of Dayton, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, in Holland, Mich.
He was born in September, 1918, in Noble Township, Auglaize County to Harry and Minnie (Coil) Schamp.
On Oct. 3, 1942, he married Sarah E. Fisher, who survives.
He is also survived by daughter Elaine (George) Van Regenmorter or Holland, Mich.; son Dr. Michael (Dianne) Schamp of Cincinnati; four grandchildren; one great grandson; sisters Rosemarie Wehmeyer of New Bremen and MaryLea Hegemier of Fort Myers, Fla.; and sister-in-law Evelyn Schamp of St. Marys.
Schamp was preceded in death by his parents, sister Edna Whitney Rupp and brothers James Schamp, "Bus" Schamp and Kenneth Schamp.
He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, having served to during World War II. He was also a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton.
He was a retired agent fro the Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. in the Dayton area.
A devoted family man, his memory will be cherished for years to come.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church on Co. Road 66 in rural St. Marys. The Rev. Neal Whitney, his nephew, will officiate. Burial is to follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Miller Long and Folk Funeral Home at 314 W. High St. in St. Marys.
