Mary Ellen Anthony Lynam

ST. MARYS, OHIO - Mary Ellen Anthony Lynam, 86, of 02124 Greenville Road in St. Marys, died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003 at the Gardens of Celina. She had formerly lived on Route 746 in Caledonia.

She was born on May 13, 1917, in Marion County to L.G. and Bessie E. (Fisher) Irey, who preceded her in death.

She married Maurice Ransom Anthony on May 30, 1942, and he died in 1972.

She then married Clifford "Don" Lynam on Dec. 2, 1982, who survives.

Other survivors included daughter Marsha Campbell of Silver City, N.M.; four brothers, Howard (Pauline) McClenathan and Norm (Caroline) Campbell of Caledonia, Bill (Margaret) Trimmel of Noedesha, K.S., and Reuban (Mary) Hecht of Yorkshire; one sister, Cheryl Fisher of Mt. Gilead; two grandsons, Doug Campbell of Caledonia and Bryan Campbell of Helena; two granddaughters, Brenda (Tim) Mutchler of Bucyrus and Beth (Kevin) Cotsmire of Crestline and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, father and first husband, she was preceded in death by brother Jack Fisher and granddaughter Bonnie Campbell.

Mrs. Anthony Lynam had worked at JC Penny, the Marion County Courthouse, MARCA Industries and had been co-owner of MA's Ceramic Studio, all in the Marion area.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in St. Marys and Marion-Salem United Methodist Church near Caledonia.

She volunteered at Otterbein Retirement Community for 15 years. She was a board member of the AGAPE ministries. She served as member and treasurer of the United Methodist women, was a lay speaker for the East conference, and served as local chapter president of the Retired Public Employees of Ohio.

Widely-known as the "Angel Lady," she had presented numerous programs about angels to interested groups and enjoyed sharing her collection of more than 1,700 angels.

Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, at the Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys. The Rev. James VanMeter will officiate. Visitation is from 2 to 4, and from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.

Additionally, services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Marion-Salem United Methodist Church near Caledonia. Burial will at the Clairdon Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Grace United Methodist Church stained glass restoration fund.
