TOLEDO, OHIO - On Saturday, September 16, the 120 member St. Marys "All-Brass" Marching Band appeared at the 2000 University of Toledo Band Day and Festival. Twelve high school bands from Ohio and Michigan participated in the annual event.
During the afternoon, they performed their "Elton John" halftime show as their part of the festival for a large and appreciative audience. Many positive comments were heard from other bands, directors, and audience members regarding their performance.
SMABB then combined with over 1200 members of the high school bands and the host University of Toledo Rocket Marching Band for the halftime performance that evening, featuring the music of Motown.
Over 27,000 were in attendance for the football game.
Thomas Blaine, Memorial High School '99, is a snare drum line squad leader in the University of Toledo Rocket Marching Band.
The local musicians, directors, and chaperones were treated to a tailgate party supper sponsored by the St. Marys Band Parents Organization and sandwiches donated by Subway by the K-Mart Plaza. They returned home tired but excited about their participation in this event.
